Fishing

Fisherman on quiet canal bank
If fishing is your interest then there are numerous opportunities to participate in your chosen activity.  The area is noted for its coarse fishing, particularly for bream, roach, pike, rudd and zander.  Conditions are excellent for both seasoned and novice anglers.

The Boston Waterways enjoy good fishing on a variety of waters.  Please make sure that you have your permit, unless you are fishing on the Hobhole Drain, which is free!  Still water fishing is available at Swineshead and Gosberton.

Fishing is also very popular in the South Holland area, with fishing on all rivers and most drains.  A number of big matches have been hosted here including the National and the National Disabled Championships.  You will need to check that you have the correct permit for the correct waters.

The Middle Level system in Cambridgeshire comprises 13 major waterways covering around 80 miles (129km), dominated by Roach, Bream and Pike. There are also a variety of still water course fishing lakes around Wisbech, Whittlesey and March.
